1/17/2026: Boys Basketball will head to White, SD for the DVC classic. They will take on Castlewood at 4:30 pm.

We were fortunate last week Thursday to host guest Speaker Nick "Sunshine" Tokman who delivered a message about dealing with negative influences, removing distractions and focusing on achieving your life goals, overcoming adversity, and making better decisions for yourself. Staff and students had a blast getting to spend the afternoon with "Sunshine" as seen on Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch". A special thank you to the Centerville Area Foundation who donated a generous amount of $1,750 towards making this event happen! We had a great first week back from break last week! We love having students and staff back in the building doing awesome things. One of the fun highlights of the week was having South Dakota Public Broadcasting's "Science Steve" join us for the afternoon on Wednesday. He did an interactive science assembly for all grades. Steve was very entertaining and educational. The kids and staff both enjoyed his hands-on science demonstrations and had a lot of fun! Mr. Schroeder and Mrs. Skatvold even got in on a demonstration and were thankful that Steve's experiment went as planned! We are thrilled to announce a special guest will be joining us this Thursday, January 8th in the Purple Gym. Nick Tokman, known as "Sunshine" as seen on Discovery Channel's 'Deadliest Catch' will be spending the afternoon with our 6-12 students and staff. He will start with a keynote speaking session at 12:45 PM and also do Q&A + autographs. His entire session will run from 12:45 to 3:20 PM. All community members are welcome to attend his session as well! We would love for you to join us! Nick speaks nationally on topics such as:
* Dealing with negative influences & peer pressure
* Removing distractions & staying focused on life goals
* Overcoming adversity & leveraging failure for success
* Making better decisions for themselves

1/3/2026: Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams will head to Mitchell to play in the World's Only Corn Palace. The games are part of the Midwest Miracles Classic. This is a fundraising event for a great cause. We are excited to be part of it again this year. Game schedule in the attached picture. If you can't join in person the link for a pay per view livestream is below.

ADMISSION will be $10 for adults and $5 for students. Kids five and under are free.

All games will be LIVESTREAMED EXCLUSIVELY at http://liveticket.tv/midwestmiracle. This will be pay-per-view at $14.99 per game. This is a fund raising event.

Fans driving to Lake Andes note a band of rain went through the area. Roads start to become icy in Wagner. Use caution when driving in that area. Stay safe remember there is a livestream as well for the event located on a previous post.

Exciting news of an extraordinary academic milestone for CHS freshman student Lamoine Barcklay. On the Spring 2025 South Dakota Science Assessment, he earned a PERFECT SCORE! Achieving this score is a rare and outstanding accomplishment. Lamoine is one of just 51 students statewide to achieve this honor. These students are among the top performers in the state, and represent a very small percentage of students each year. His performance exemplifies high standards and highlights his work ethic as well as his academic talent! Congratulations Lamoine!
