About Me:
My name is Austin Schroeder and I will be teaching high school science this upcoming school year. This upcoming school year will be my 8th year of teaching! I am also a coach for junior high football and the HOSA & National Honor's Society Advisor. I am currently living in Sioux Falls with my girlfriend. Together we have one daughter named Presley, two sons named Carson and Jordan and one baby on the way that is due on October 10th! In my spare time you can find me outdoors or doing something sports related! I love to travel and see all the different opportunities in our world today!
My Why:
I am very excited to teach in Centerville this upcoming school year. As I grew up, I came from a smaller rural school as well and I love the aspect of we are all in this together and the sense of community and involvement from everyone! I am excited to see students grow their knowledge throughout the school years and into the adults they are to become! I decided to become a teacher thanks to some great teachers in high school that showed me the fun and excitement of science and how having wonder and curiosity is a powerful tool. I am honored and thrilled to be a part of the process that shows students the advancements in science and allows them to reach their full potential.

Hello! I’m Victoria Salmonson, and I will be teaching math at Centerville! My family and I just moved to Canton this summer where my husband is the Methodist pastor. Our three children, Jacquelin (6th grade), Rachel (3rd grade) and Alexander (kindergarten), will all be attending school in Canton. I enjoy spending my time reading, doing puzzles, and playing games.
I have spent much of my 16 years of teaching in smaller schools. I adore getting to know my students and teaching them for more than one year. I went into teaching because I like making connections with people and sharing the beauty of math with them. I’m looking forward to becoming part of this community!

About Me:
My name is Sarah Skatvold and I will be coming back to Centerville to teach 4th grade! I truly enjoy the strong sense of community here. The supportive environment and great relationships among students, families, and educators make it an ideal place to be. My husband, Josh, and I have two sons Spencer and Riley that have both graduated from Centerville. I have taught in middle school, elementary, and as a reading and math interventionist. I enjoy spending time with our sheep, cattle, and new puppy. When I am not at home, you might find me at a livestock show.
My Why:
I went into teaching because I have a passion for helping others grow and reach their full potential. The wonderful teachers that I had fostered that in me and I want to pass that along to my students. I've always found joy in sharing knowledge, inspiring curiosity, and creating a supportive environment where my students feel recognized and appreciated.
About me:
My name is Rena Bjordal. I will be teaching 5th grade this year here in Centerville. I live outside of town with my husband Matt and step-son Braden. I also have 2 grown daughters, Cassie and Lexis and a step-daughter Grace. I grew up in Iowa and moved to Sioux Falls in 2006. I taught in Sioux Falls for 17 years. I moved to outside Centerville in 2017 when Matt & I got married and love being back in a small-town community like where I grew up. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family, friends and pets. We enjoy going side by siding in the Hills and spending time at Thunder Valley Dragway in Marion where my Husband and Stepson Drag Race during the summer. Some other things I love are camping, kayaking, reading and cooking/baking!
My Why:
Small town Community is what drove me to want to teach here at home. Here our school is one big family, connected and invested in each other's successes. Besides home, school is where students can learn how to be productive members of our community. I strive to make an environment of learning that is safe where students can explore, collaborate and control how they are learning. It's important to me to make sure students have purpose, autonomy and mastery of their learning. We are a community that works together to build each other up and support one another as we work towards goals and desired outcomes. If our community is strong, we learn the lifelong skills of teamwork, comrade, respect and collaboration. I am so excited to be a part of the Tornado Family!
Coach Morphew here and I'm so excited to start this next Cross Country season! A big thanks to Coach Eide for everything she has done for this program and continues to do for our community and school! You will be missed at 6:00 am practices!
I want to schedule a fun run on Thursday, 7/17 at 10 AM, for any 6th-12th students interested in going out for Cross Country next year. Let's meet at the park south of the track. This will be your first chance to get some miles under our shoes and see where we stand this year! I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!
