This week we turn the spotlight to another teacher we are very proud to have in our district, Mrs. Brittany Tornberg. Loved by her students, she is always providing them with an excellent experience, 2nd grade is lucky to have her! We are all very thankful she chose Centerville, especially Assistant Principal Mr. Tornberg!
About Me-
I grew up on a farm outside of Chancellor, SD, graduated from PHS, continued my education at USF on the track team and finished as a JACKRABBIT at SDSU with my degree. I started my first teaching career here in Centerville, where I teach 2nd grade. My husband, 11-month-old Harrison and I live southwest of Centerville on an acreage where we have highlander cattle, sheep, donkeys, Mr. Tornberg's chickens and our puppies, Willow, Ruby, Charlie, & Dolly. When we are away from school, we enjoy spending our time being active outside.
Favorites-
Color - Pink or Black
Animal - Highlander Cattle
Hobby - Shopping, spending time with family & friends, and being outside.
Food - Chips & Salsa or Popcorn
Drink - White Chocolate Mocha
Memory -
One of my most cherished memories is meeting my incredible husband right here at CHS. It’s clear now that there was a beautiful plan in motion—one far greater than anything we could have imagined. Another favorite memory comes from a different role: stepping out of the classroom and into the stands as a coach’s wife. Trading my teacher’s hat for a spot on the sidelines has been an unforgettable part of my Centerville journey. Being a cheerleader for such an exciting chapter—has been nothing short of extraordinary. Words cannot capture the depth of this experience. Watching the girls’ basketball team shine has revealed that it’s about so much more than just the game—it's about heart, growth, and family.
Why Statement -
I chose education because of the incredible power it holds to shape lives. I chose education because of the remarkable teachers that I had throughout my education. The inspiration and encouragement they gave is a source that I hope to give students that come into my classroom— someone who makes them feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving more than they ever imagined.

4/28/25: 11 am Junior High Great Plains Conference Track @ Alcester-Hudson. Those traveling note:
Highway 46 between Alcester and Beresford is very rough due to construction. If you are coming from the west or south, I would recommend going to the Alcester exit to avoid it. If you are coming from the north, I would take the Centerville exit and come south down Highway 11.
Good Luck Tornadoes!

Liz Shearer hit her first varsity home run for the Centerville Tornadoes today in their Quad in Marion. Congratulations Liz!
