Good Morning: With the uptick in positive cases we are moving from tier 2 to tier 3. The difference in tier 2 and tier 3 is that we will ask students to wear masks on the buses, in the hallways, and when social distancing isn't possible. Other changes that may happen: students stay in rooms and teachers move, student entrance for the school day, and lunch (in classrooms). If you have any questions, please email Eric.Knight@k12.sd.us Thanks

Parents: We made it through a little bit of a rough week. We hope that everyone takes the time over the long break to take a breath to relax. We also ask you to monitor the health of your children, social gathers, and social media. It is going to take a team effort to stay healthy and learning. Have a great long weekend!

Good morning. We are glad to have students back in the building and appreciate the chance to reconnect, meet new faces, and find a flow. Unfortunately, we are experiencing some negativity once again in the form of anonymous social media accounts. In a perfect world, these “anonymous” Instagram accounts would not exist and our Tornado students would not be involved. However, that is not the case. Although anonymous accounts can be traced when certain agencies are contacted, these accounts are still at the forefront of social media. At this time, we would like to raise awareness for parents and to encourage students to consider their morals and ethics and to fight the peer pressure to follow, create or post to these accounts. Show your Tornado Pride and decide to make choices that will set you up for success in the future and leave a positive legacy . We encourage you to not spread gossip, defame others, or submit content to one of your peers to shame others, it is NOT the Tornado way. Parents, I encourage you to visit with your child about their online habits and the content they are seeking out. Please ask your child to be responsible with the content they create or follow on Instagram and other social media platforms.

Yesterday, will walked back into the classroom for the first time since leaving school abruptly on March 13, 2020 due to the coronavirus. Students ended the year in a remote learning environment, missing out on important face-to-face instruction and relationships with teachers and friends. As students and staff return to school this fall, they will bring their collective experiences with them and make a fresh start. As we prepare to greet them, we are asking our entire community to come together to support our staff and our students with the message that no matter the learning space - we are ALL in this “together.” Hang a royal blue ribbon in your window. Write “together” in window paint. Decorate your home and office to show support. Let staff and students know you’re standing by them. You care about them. You wish them success. We know school won’t look and feel exactly the same this year. But, school is still school – a place where hope and possibility meet for a bright future. We are better “together.”
