Faucet

On July 2, 2026, we tested the school’s water to see if it contains lead, a heavy metal that can cause health problems if ingested (swallowed). Lead was commonly used in building construction into the 1980s. All schools in South Dakota will eventually need to go through the same testing process we did.

Our water contained small amounts of lead in some areas of the school. We have identified a faucet in the Special Education Room that contains lead. Because the level of lead found in water was so low, the EPA does not require we replace these fixtures. This is a sink used to wash dishes.  Students do not use this water for drinking purposes.  We plan to replace these fixture.
